Hello, Lovely!
I’ve started to
work on my branding, which until this point, came along organically. I think it is important, however, to
intentionally direct how and where my business goes, so I’ve embarked on
calculated changes to my business.
As a first
step, most marketing specialists ask you to decide on three words describing
your business. Almost allllllways,
wedding photographers choose “romantic.”
Vomit. It makes me think of
photos shot off kilter (dutch angles) with only red roses, and “Lady in Red”
playing on the Sony bombox.
Something like
this.
HA! Did you see
how many red roses were in this video?
Something like 9,286. Honestly. Go back and check. I LOVED this song in high
school. LOVED! I think I even had a red dress because of
this song… but, this is not the type of “romantic” photos I want to give you.
I think
everyone wants their wedding photos to be romantic, so I need a descriptor that
better fits my business of how I want my couples to “feel.” So, I came up with:
Parisian
elegance
Lumber-sexy
Fresh * Organic
* Local (Yes! Like the farmer’s market slogan!)
Yeah, yeah,
yeah. I know. Each is more than **a** word. I’m a rule breaker! Over the next month, I share a few posts with
you about how I’m giving clients an experience based on these phrases.
Oh, and because
every good post needs a photo, here is a sneak peak of a shoot with Silk andBurlap in Frederick. I’ll have some more
info on my budding collaboration with Silk and Burlap soon, but in the meantime,
here is type of romance I want in my brand—Parisian elegance.
