Happy Thursday,
Lovelies!
So, I got my
car camera in the mail this week, and I just had to take it out for a
spin! Okay, it’s just of my girls’
gingerbread house, but I had to get my fingers all over the beautiful new buttons! The girls have been with us for three
weekends straight, and I don’t shoot when they are here, so this weekend, the
camera and I are headed out to my first shoot!
So, my
review. I just eloped with my new 5d
Miii.
First, I
thought the camera was broken. Not
focusing. Silly me! I had to adjust the camera’s eyepiece for my
wonky vision. See the scroll dial to the
right of the eyepiece? Done!
Then, I went
through my menu to check out all my fancy new options. First, the ISO (film speed) goes up to
25,600!! On my 5d Mii (that’s ii or “2”)
the ISO goes to 6400, and around 4000, I start to get a lot of lucky grain.
So, I had to
push the limit on my ISO, and see what I got!

| 5d Miii at ISO 8,000-- there is grain, but much less! |
Other cool
features include the expanded focus points.
There are a TON, which would take forever to scroll through. I found a cool trick, however. You can use this little Blackberry mouse-like
button to toggle through the focus points much more quickly.
Another cool
feature is the mode dial is LOCKED. You
have to push down on the button in the middle to release it and select a
different mode. Awesome! I always
shoot in manual, so when pulling the camera out of my bag and the mode dial
shifts to Bulb or Av-priority mode??
Agh! What’s wrong with my
camera??!! Now, I’m locked in manual.
Woot! Woot!
