Happy Wednesday, Lovelies!
As the year draws to a close, many of us are thinking about
New Year’s resolutions. For me, a resolution has often been a way for me
to “put off” doing something until January 1…. Err, January 10th…
Err, March 15…. Well, maybe next year?
I’ve come across several memes recently stating something
along the lines of: if something is worth doing, it’s worth doing now.
True dat. As I recognize a goal as important, I’m
trying to get after getting it accomplished. Even if the goal is
unattainable today or tomorrow, I’m working on getting the strategy in place
and dedicating myself to reaching it.
Without a doubt, fear holds me back from seeking out my
goals. As a businesswoman, when I set a goal, it often means that I am
betting my financial future not only on being accepted at the cool kids' table…
but I’m forging off on my own. And, I’m betting the masses follow me….
Buy my furniture… book a wedding with me, etc.
That’s scary because I don’t have that kind of confidence,
but you know what? I sell one piece of furniture at a time and
book one wedding at a time. It’s important that I don’t compare my
success to someone else’s because my goal is not to be better than they are,
but to be better than I am… here today.
So, some of my
goals for Jalapeño Photography:
- Update my
blog design.
- By the end of
2014, I want to grow my Facebook likes to 600 and my daily blog readership to
250. I’m going to do that by blogging
every day.
- Submit at
least 50% of my personal photography work for publican.
- Publish a
2014 magazine for brides.
- Publish an
“what to wear” mini-accordion album.
- Take a class
on QuickBooks.
- Develop
“welcome” packages for weddings and portrait sessions.
- Update
packaging.
- Finish
editing images within one week—including editing for weddings.
- Update
website to include more engagement and wedding photos.
- Proactively
book Test Drives at the wedding expo.
