Sneak Peeks | Virginia Photographer

Monday, November 4, 2013

Happy Monday, Lovelies!

Wow. Zaa.  Late Saturday night, I was working on sewing a pillow for a chair I’m upholstering (see here), and I kept breaking needles on my sewing machine, and then my belt came off the wheel thing-a-ma-jig inside the sewing machine.

Life kind of feels like that sewing machine.  I have this photography business, an antique/ redesign business, and a teeny-tiny federal contract.  I have all the know-how and a TON of excitement to make everything work, but sometimes I have to slow down to replace a needle or put the belt back on a flywheel.

I hate slowing down.

I think little by little I’m learning how to make everything function smoothly—and learning how to break less needles.

Today, I have a TON of sneak peeks for you.  I’ll roll out the full sessions to you over the next two weeks.

While at Lake Anne, I met a woman who was getting all dolled up in the bathroom.  I asked-- what is the occasion?  She was holding a wedding reception for her daughter in the Jo Ann Rose Art Gallery.  No photographer.  When thinking about your priorities for your wedding day, some photographers will say you **need** a professional photographer.  To me, if photos aren’t your thing, they aren’t your thing.  This mom tried to hire me as we chatted because it wasn’t a priority until she saw her daughter, herself, and her friends and family assembling.  I couldn’t.  The mom was super bummed, so I snapped a few pictures on my way out the door.

Test drive with the redunkously cute Alex and Megan.  I love the layers of stripe, the boots and coat, and the pop of the messenger bag!

Family mini session at the Lincoln.  Beautiful day, and yes.  That beautiful, tiny woman is the mom.  Man!  She got the antieyebags and antibabyfat genes.

When I was shooting and attending a brunch, Renzo hit up an estate auction to refill our space at Sweet Clover.  One item he picked up was this GORG chifferobe.  You can read more about chifferobes here.  This one comes in four pieces: a base, a crown, and two locker-like pieces.  So, you get a big ol’ piece that can fit in your SUV, up your townhouse stairs, and even in your apartment.

I cannot wait to refinish this and several other pieces!

Engagement session with this stylish couple!  Gorg outfits and perfect styling.  They brought a picnic- how cute!

Brunch with Governor Parnell of Alaska.  One thing I LOVE about Alaskan politicians, they aren’t afraid of hanging out with the everyday “Joe.”
