Happy Friday,
Lovelies!
In addition to
feeling too cool for school when I get published, it’s the cheapest high impact advertising there
is. So far, I’ve been published by Capital
Romance, Paper Moon Weddings, Bayside Bride, Kiss My Tulle, Tutto Bella, The
Modern Jewish Wedding, de Lovely Affair, and the Wedding Yentas. I will be published by The Fête Blog
in August.
These blogs are awesome, and I’m trying for others! I think every photographer (at least with my
style) waaaants to be published in Style Me Pretty. I’ve submitted there a twice and was turned down
twice. The editors were awesome and gave
me great insight on better applications in the future.
- Submit weddings that are a season ahead: Because SMP gets thousands of submissions a week, they accept submissions that will be published in a few months. Content should be appear fresh at the time of publican. Spring weddings that could be published in fall; fall weddings that could be published in winter; etc.
- Detail shots: Most brides seek out blogs and wedding magazines for ideas on the details, so its important to have a large number of detail shots. I’m very much a human-emotion photographer (not a “real” term, just one I made up) so the posey-posey shots like the ring in a flower isn’t something that gets my juices flowing. I’m working on getting the detail and keeping my style.
Lastly, to be
featured on an “exclusive” blog like Style Me Pretty, Green Wedding Shoes, or
United We Love, the shoot can’t be featured elsewhere…. So, lovelies, you’re
just getting sneak peeks of two shoots that will be on the editor’s desk of SMP
this weekend!
Hope that
inspires you to get publishing!
