Happy Thursday,
Lovelies!
What outdoor
wedding is complete without cornhole, right?
I recently shot Lori and Kris’ wedding where they coordinated décor and
colors of their cornhole game. Totally
cute!
I love cornhole
as much as the next lady, but the word “cornhole” makes me cringe, and
“cornhole” at my “wedding”--??!!
Ugh. I loved how Lori and Kris
“fluffed” the game, and I’m excited to do the same! Let me share with you where I got my
supplies. In a week or two, I’ll show
you what I did with my cornhole. With my cornhole BOARDS.
Beavis and
Butthead meets Antiques Roadshow.
After scouting
around, the boards I found were going for $100, $150…. $200! What?
Then I found Jesse Shipps of Shipps Wood Craft. He’s active-duty military, a husband and a dad,
and his boards start at $60 for the set.
Yes, folks. $60. Done!
I’m really
excited to try out an image transfer technique on my cornhole boards. I think I will age the boards with a steel
wool wash, then transfer our new monogram on one boards and our silhouettes on
the other.
Jesse teaches
photography for the military, and does woodworking and cornhole-board making on
the side… but with a ton of passion! His
boards are built to American Cornhole Organization specifications. Jesse even carries boards that meet the
stricter American Cornhole Association’s regulations.
At least that’s
what Jesse says. I didn’t know there was
a cornhole association, much less competing associations. Jesse explained the specifications regarding
size, elevation, bag weight…..huh?...eye glaze.
Then get started talking waxes and stains. Snap!
I’m awake.
Dude. These are legit.
Anyway, I
thought I would share Jesse’s information because my boards are super cool, I
don’t have any space to make a board anyway, and you know how I love support
local small businesses. Plus, you aren’t
going to find a cornhole set (two boards) for anything close to $60. Jesse’s at Fort Meade, so if you’re looking
for a cornhole game/ cornhole boards in Northern Virginia, DC or Maryland,
Jesse’s perfect.
Check him out
for your wedding, corporate get together, or backyard game. Here is Jesse’s contact information, website,
and a news story on Jesse’s woodworking. Like him on Facebook, so when you're ready to pick up your cornhole game, you remember where to go.
Oh, and the day I picked up my boards it was super hot. My daughter N was too cute. I had to snap a photo of my little bug.
