Swaroopa's Baby Shower {Northern Virginia Family Photographer}

Friday, August 3, 2012
About two weeks ago, I had the pleasure of photographing a bee-u-tee-ful baby shower for Swaroopa.  What a special time!

South Asians know how to do elegance.  As a woman in my thirties, I’m playing with the idea of learning to wear lipstick, and I seek out fashion that is elegant instead of risqué.  I think the sari is the epitome of class.  Its long shape elongates women.  Bright colors and conservative necklines make women's necks longer and faces brighter.

Oh, and the bling!  South Asians do sparkly jewelry right.  Oh, and the food!  Nom.Nom.Nom.
** Notice: One 31 27 year old photographer for adoption.  Adopting parents must be willing to give cooking instruction on South Asian cuisine and fashion.**
 Swaroopa’s shower embodied all the beauty and grace I’ve come to love about South Asian cultures.  The soon-to-be-mom was dressed in an amazingly royal blue sari.  Her hair was wrapped in jasmine, and her fragrant perfume was her gentle shadow.

A significant part of the shower was the blessing.  Guests took turns anointing the soon-to-be-mom in a meaningful blessing ceremony.   I’m so pleased I had the opportunity to be part of this beautiful day!

If you’re interested in having your baby shower photographed, please let me know.  I would love to photograph your day!
